Bigfoot Networks Partners with TeamSpeak to Enhance Killer Xeno Gaming Network Platform
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Sunday, 05 April 2009

On Tuesday, March 24th, Bigfoot Networks - developer of technologies designed to help reduce network latency - announced that they partnered with TeamSpeak to deliver accelerated voice chat on their new Killer Xeno platform. The technology offloads all TS3 voice chat processes to the Killer Xeno architecture, bringing you voice chat with no performance hit in any game you play.

"We are excited to be working with Bigfoot Networks and delighted that TeamSpeak 3 will be an integral part of its next-generation Xeno product," said Florence Espinoza, TeamSpeak director of sales. "TeamSpeak has catered to the online gaming community for years, attracting the same extreme and competitive-play users that are attracted to Bigfoot's products. We are confident that the integrated hardware solution we are working on will meet their demands."

Bigfoot Networks stated earlier that they know that online gaming and online living are inseparable and that's why they've tackled the things gamers need most on top of gaming - hardware accelerated voice chat, hardware bandwidth control, and a hardware firewall and other tools, all built to run behind the scenes on their NPU (Network Processing Unit).

Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Wednesday, 18 March 2009

In yesterdays news and press release, the TeamSpeak development team announced that TeamSpeak 3 will be featured as the integrated voice-communication solution for America's Army 3 (AA3). AA is a video game developed by the United States Army and released as a global public relations initiative to help with recruitment.

"Current America's Army players use TeamSpeak 2 with great success as it offers them the clear voice communication they need for effective teamwork," said Michael Bode, AA Executive Producer. "The quality of the TeamSpeak products simply can't be beaten. TeamSpeak 3 is becoming the default third-party VoIP solution on the PC platform. It offers us so many exciting features, and we plan to take advantage of them all, some in the initial release and others later with each AA3 expansion pack."

America's Army 3 uses Unreal Engine 3 and the game developers brought the most popular trademark gameplay features from previous AA releases to AA3.

"TeamSpeak 3 provides America's Army with a very high quality VoIP system that will make America's Army 3 an even better product," said Bill Perez, lead programmer for AA3. "The TeamSpeak 3 Software Development Kit made the integration of TeamSpeak 3's VoIP system into America's Army 3 very fast and easy. The excellent documentation, fast technical support, and easy to follow sample code all combined to make the process of integrating TeamSpeak 3 into America's Army 3 an efficient and cost-effective way to add quality VoIP."

Stay tuned!

German Hardware Magazine Reveals New TS3 Features
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Thursday, 11 December 2008

Today, we've great news for the TeamSpeak community. Issue 1/2009 of the PC GAMES Hardware magazine contains an exciting article about the TeamSpeak 3 ALPHA. The PC GAMES Hardware test labs were visited by Ralf Ludwig and Peter Kirk - managing directors of the recently founded TeamSpeak Systems GmbH and lead developers of the TS3 client and server software - and had the exclusive chance to test a pre-release version of TeamSpeak 3.

"With the latest ALPHA release, the developers have given us a preview on the new TeamSpeak 3. From our view, the voice quality and latency will set new standards." said Lars Craemer - author of the article. "Already the ALPHA release can live up to the expectations to TeamSpeak 3. Reasonable new features in combination with superior voice quality and lower latency are more than enough reasons to switch to TS3."

TeamSpeak 3 will introduce a new authentication system. Instead of using a combination of username and password, TS3 now uses unique IDs to verify the users identity on all servers. All permissions and settings are bound to this ID so the drama of wannabe hackers guessing the administrators passwords should finally be solved. In addition, every identity can be added to a Friend/Foe list which allows you to mute or ignore annoying users.

Probably one of the most exciting features is TeamSpeak 3's File Transfer functionality. Depending on your permissions, you'll be able to up- and download files from a channels filebase. This feature offers unimagined possibilities. For example, clan leaders will be able to spread the latest patches for the games they're playing with their team mates. The path to your own TeamSpeak 3 file sharing network is set.

As a bonus, the arcticle contains some exclusive screenshots, an interview with the developers and additional details about features that were already announced in the past. To read the full article, simply get issue 1/2009 of the PC GAMES Hardware magazine visit the media archive on their website.

Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Friday, 31 October 2008

With todays developer blog entry, the TeamSpeak team not only announced that they're searching some new testers for TeamSpeak 3's closed ALPHA testing phase, but also published some brand new screenshots of the TeamSpeak 3 client software on all three platforms - namely Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Many users have asked for this in the official TeamSpeak forums for a long time, and now the devs have managed to cleanup the interface and icons enough to be able to present something that doesn't look too bad.

The new screenshots reveal a few new TS3 features (e.g. the ability to use images in channel descriptions) and help you to get a clearer picture of the features that were already announced before. Please keep in mind that the clients GUI is still work in progress and does NOT show the final product.

TeamSpeak Calls for TS3 Linux/Mac OS X Closed Alpha Testers
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Friday, 31 October 2008

Happy Halloween everyone! We've some great news for the TeamSpeak community. Moments ago, the TeamSpeak development team announced that they're searching for a few testers to join the TS3 closed ALPHA test team. At this point the devs are looking for people using Mac OS X (10.3.9 or newer) or Linux (x86 or amd64) as their primary Operating System.

If you're a Windows user, please DO NOT apply for this ALPHA testing phase. TeamSpeak Systems has set up a strong list of requirements as they're searching for new qualified ALPHA testers - not just users. Read these requirements carefully. If you apply although you do not match the testing requirements, the developers might also ignore your applications for further tests.

Stay tuned to the official TeamSpeak website as a new developer blog entry is currently prepared which will contain some exciting new details about the upcoming TeamSpeak 3 client software.
