WARNING: Infected fraud Emails from GoTeamSpeak.com |
| |
|
This evening all users of the official GoTeamSpeak.com forums were sent an email with the following content:
Now you can download new Team Speak patch. It will help you to use our Team Speak servers.
We advise you to download it now
h**p://www.goteamspeak.com/downloads/patch.exe
We've been reported that a few users have received a second email containing a modified version of this text.
We strongly advise that you DO NOT DOWNLOAD AND OPEN the files mentioned in these emails as they contain a virus which is at the moment detected by only a few antivirus solutions. We've reported this virus to ClamAV so hopefully it will be in some more virus databases soon.
Update - 15 April 2007
The GoTeamSpeak.com forums and the infected file seem to be down at the moment. The fake patch is now detected by Kaspersky as Trojan-PSW.Win32.LdPinch.beo and by ClamAV as Trojan.Spy-4392 hopefully more virus scanners to come. One of the attackers used a forum account of a TeamSpeak Systems employee to post that he has used a SQL Injection in one of the applications - not the forum itself - running on GoTeamSpeak.com to gain access to the database. This information is not verified.
Update - 15 April 2007
The issue has been resolved and all infected files have been deleted from the GoTeamSpeak.com website.
