Avira AntiVir detects TS Admin-Client as Virus
Published in Third Party Applications
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Sunday, 14 October 2007

During the last two days, several users of Avira AntiVir have informed us of a possible virus issue with version 1.1 of the TS Admin-Client. The antivirus solution reports the TS Admin-Client's main executable as a virus called SPR/Tool.TSAdmin. It seems like the application has been added to Avira's signature database on October 9th, 2007 at 17:23.

This is a false positive - meaning that there has never been any malicious code in the TS Admin-Client. We've already sent an email to Avira hoping that this issue can be resolved without any more inconvenience.

Update - 15 October 2007

Today, we've received an email from Avira. The TS Admin-Client will be removed from Avira's signature database with one of the next updates.

This morning, the official TeamSpeak website has received a major update. TeamSpeak.com is now coming up with an entirely new design and a massive amount of new content. The german content is currently beeing prepared and will be published soon.

With the launch of the new website, the TeamSpeak team officially announced TeamSpeak 3 - their upcoming, next generation product. Apart from the information presented in their blog, the new content reveals that there will be a TeamSpeak 3 Corporate Edition (CE) which features encrypted VoIP technology. TeamSpeak 3 CE is intended as business version of the core product and will not be available until sometime after the initial TeamSpeak 3 core product and SDK is released.

Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Thursday, 04 October 2007

Those of you who sometimes check out the press releases on the official TeamSpeak website might already have noticed that a new atricle has been published a few days ago. TeamSpeak Systems is now an official sponsor of the SC Riessersee ice hockey team in Germany for the upcoming season 2007-2008.

As part of the sponsorship, the official TeamSpeak logo appears right on the Olympia Eishalle's bully circle which can be seen by almost any location within the stadium's seating. The Olympia Eishalle is host to more than 300000 annual visitors. TeamSpeak Systems has booked 20 meters of banner space in the Olympia Eishalle and is planning on continued support for future SC Riessersee seasons.

On a side note the article also mentions that TeamSpeak 3 is now scheduled for release in early 2008.

Nickname URL-Filter for TeamSpeak 2 Servers is Available
Published in Third Party Applications
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Thursday, 06 September 2007

We're sure some of you have noticed the recent, high rate of URL spamming on TeamSpeak 2 servers. The scenario is always the same: An unknown user connects to a server using an URL as nickname. We know that there are several applications and scripts out there that will automatically kick or ban the user, but the URL will still be seen by others in the clients chatlog.

To avoid this issue, Steven has created a small proof of concept application called TSQueue which uses the Linux netfilter userspace packet queue to parse all login packets sent to your server by a TeamSpeak 2 client. If the nickname includes www. or http://, the application will overwrite the nickname with a pre-defined value.

The application is released under the GNU General Public License, so you're allowed to modify, copy and redistribute the source code.

If you have any thoughts or feedback regarding the application, please feel free to contact us.
