TeamSpeak Public Test Servers Moved
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Thursday, 07 September 2006

Some of you might have expirenced some problems with high latency and packet loss on TeamSpeak's official public test servers during the last months - and not only during peak hours. The servers were practically unserviceable for people who wanted to test the TeamSpeak 2 software.

Finally, these problems have been solved, since the servers were moved to a new ISP. German-based XG1 - TeamSpeak's new partner - proudly hosts the official, public test servers now.

You can already join the servers by using the new IP address (62.146.116.194). The DNS server records for the domain voice.teamspeak.org has also been changed, but there will be a propagation period of 24-72 hours whilst the update spreads across.

Please answer to the original thread on GoTeamSpeak.com, if you experience any problems.

Applications for NPO License no longer Accepted
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Monday, 28 August 2006

As a result of the recent problems with various german Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs), TeamSpeak's official sales & licensing provider - Triton CI & Associates - is no longer accepting new applications for the NPO license at this time. The NPO licensing plan allowed non-commercial TeamSpeak hosters to exceed the 1000 slot limit that has been adoped a few months ago.

Until now, nearly 70 communities and organisations have been provided with an NPO license.

Beta Testers for TS2PerlMod GNU/GPL-Edition Needed
Published in Third Party Applications
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Monday, 21 August 2006

I'm happy to announce that our internal version of the TS2PerlMod is now feature complete and requires one or two tweaks before it goes live. It will be released with the full source code under the GNU General Public License. We decided to do a complete rewrite of the original code to improve speed, performance and security. Our self-made Perl module TeamSpeak2::TCPquery is now fully object-oriented and contains sub-packages to handle player, channel and server objects easily.

Due to a tight deadline it's going to be a short Beta so we'd like to get people started as soon as possible. If you're interested in giving it a shot, please check the according thread in our forums.

TeamSpeak 2 Client 2.0.33.5 BETA for Windows Available
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Monday, 14 August 2006

As a big suprise for all of us, the TeamSpeak Team has released an updated Teamspeak 2 client binary for Windows today. This version is, even though fully functional, for BETA testing. A final release - including a new installer - will follow soon.

In our opinion, the most important change to this version is the new confirmation window, that appears when granting SA permissions. Hopefully, this will prevent the use of the well known "Right-click on my name and press E" trick in the future. In addition, the developers have fixed a small bug where the client softare could crash when someone uses specific codes in his nicknme or other texts.

Please check our download area or the official TeamSpeak forums for a detailed list of changes.

TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.23.2 BETA Released
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Monday, 14 August 2006

A new version of the TeamSpeak 2 server for Linux has been released today. The new version finally provides a highly requested security feature for the servers web administration interface and deals with random crashes, that occured on serverstop commands in previous BETA versions. Detailed information about the changes can be found in the official TeamSpeak forums.

Due to security and liability reasons we recommend all administrators to update their TeamSpeak servers with the new binary.

The new release can be found in our download area or on the official TeamSpeak website.

New TeamSpeak 3 Features Revealed
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Saturday, 12 August 2006

After nearly two months of silence, the TeamSpeak Team revealed two new features for the next major release of their software, known as TeamSpeak 3. The developers have already used their Developer Blog in the past, to offer us a much clearer view of their work.

The text messaging system of TeamSpeak 3 will be an entirely different, and much improved experience compared to TeamSpeak 2. All your messages may contain plain text but you are also able to use BB code tags to emphasize certain words or phrases by making them (for example) bold or italic.

Another new feature will allow the user to connect to multiple TeamSpeak 3 servers from within one client, similar to tabbed-browsing. This was one of the many highly requested features for TeamSpeak 3.

There's a lot more than this going on behind the scenes, so stay tuned for future Developer Blog updates.
