TeamSpeak 2 Client Available in Debian Repositories
Published in TeamSpeak
Written by Steven 'Cyrus' Barth on Friday, 24 November 2006

Thanks to package maintainer Adam Cécile the TeamSpeak 2 Client is present in the Debian repositories. Now, you can find packages including the latest version of the Linux client in the testing (etch) and unstable (sid) branches for architecture i386 as well as amd64 with 32-bit emulation. Debian users should now be able to install the package named teamspeak-client via aptitude or apt.

As TeamSpeak does not comply to the DFSG you should make sure to have Debians non-free archive in your package sources. If you have a look at the list of pending packages there will probably also be a package called teamspeak-server so we can hope to have an easy and comfortable installation for the server in the near future as well.

TS2PerlMod GNU/GPL-Edition Updated to Version 0.9.15
Published in Third Party Applications
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Friday, 10 November 2006

Due to various problems with our TS2PerlMod, we've decided to update the script to version 0.9.15. This is just a small update, which ensures that critical errors can be analyzed by checking the scripts logfiles after the TS2PerlMod has stopped working unexpectedly.

We've also added a seperate startscript to the download package, that allows you to start and stop multiple instances of the TS2PerlMod at once. Although its functionality has been tested, it is still highly experiamental. We'd appreciate your feedback and bug reports.

TeamSpeak 2 Backup Utility is Available
Published in Third Party Applications
Written by Steven 'Cyrus' Barth on Sunday, 05 November 2006

Since today, we are providing a new service. It is called TeamSpeak 2 Backup Utility and it can be used to export and import channels on a TeamSpeak 2 Server. Just login with any serveradmin account and choose between exporting, importing or clearing the channels on your server. Unlike other tools you do not have to restart your server to apply channel modifications. Therefore, you easily can create a backup of your channels or copy your channel tree from one server to another.

We are using the UDP-Protocol of TeamSpeak 2 to send commands just like your client does. Although we did several tests there is the possibility that this tool may lead to unusual behaviour. So you use this tool at your own risk.

Please report any bugs or unusual behaviour in our forums or contact us directly.

Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Tuesday, 31 October 2006

As a first attempt to allow users to participate in online voice-chats, PhoneCaster.de now provides access to german TeamSpeak servers via telephone. Each server listed in the public Web Server List can be accessed by using a unique phone number.

Since the project is still in BETA, some of the features might not work as expected, but during out tests we were able to connect to various servers without any problems. We're looking forward to see this new and innovative service expand.

If you'd like to try the PhoneCaster.de service, simply call our server by using its phone number +49 355 2892 58 11112.

October Updates on TSViewer.com
Published in Partners
Written by Sven 'ScP' Paulsen on Tuesday, 24 October 2006

Our partner website TSViewer.com has grown rapidly during the last months. A few days ago, our friend ginger|HFD has finished his work on several updates to the website. Several features have been enhanced and are more clearly arranged.

To improve the overall performance, the list of servers in a category has been seperated into groups of 100 servers, which can easily be accessed by using the new paginations. The code generator now allows you to place the TeamSpeak tree by using PHP's include() functions, so you're no longer forced to use frames. In addition, all lists can be sorted by clicking the appropriate column header.

A detailed list of changes and improvements can be found on the TSViewer.com website.
