Triton CI & Associates provides new Online Services

As of today, Triton CI & Associates - the official sales & licensing partner of TeamSpeak - provides two new pages on their website. The first page called Licensed NPOs contains a list of all properly licensed Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs), which have been granted a special license that allows them to hostmore than 10 TeamSpeak servers at a time and between 1000 to 5000slots total.

Probably the most exciting feature is the new Licensed IP Validation page. If you suspect that a TeamSpeak 2 server is being hosted illegally, you can use the script to verify if an IP address is properly licensed. Due to security and performance reasons, you are limited to 10 searches every 5 minutes.

Update - 09 April 2007
Today, the guys from Triton CI & Associates have set up a new ticket system. From now on, anyone sending an email to sales@tritoncia.com (mailto:sales@tritoncia.com) or piracy@tritoncia.com (mailto:piracy@tritoncia.com) should receive an auto-response containing an assigned ticket ID. You can also submit a new ticket using Triton's new Support Center website.
Related Links:
Licensed IP Validation on TritonCIA.com (http://sales.tritoncia.com/checkip.php)
Support Center on TritonCIA.com (http://support.tritoncia.com/)
Official TeamSpeak 3 FAQ Opened

We're happy to announce that the first official TS3 FAQ has been opened on the official TeamSpeak website. Besides the usual questions about TS3's release date and voice quality, the FAQ section features some interesting factsabout backward compatibility and migration from TeamSpeak 2 to TeamSpeak 3.

The most important information is TeamSpeak 3 will in no way be compatible to TeamSpeak 2 beacuse the complete core and the protocol itself have been completely re-engineered and the TeamSpeak 3 server introduces a new database structure. The developers intend to provide migration tools to convert basic information such as a servers name, the welcome message, channel data and password settings.

Currently the FAQ section contains 8 entries. If you're interested in reading all of them, please check the official TeamSpeak website.

Related Links:
TeamSpeak 3 FAQ on TeamSpeak.com (http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=faq&cat=ts3)
So far, it's been an exciting weekend for the TeamSpeak community in Germany. After yesterday's interview in the buffed.de podcast, TeamSpeak had a second appearance in the media. Today, GIGA introduced several voice communication software solutions in the latest episode of GIGA eSports. Our good friend ginger|HFD (http://forum.planetteamspeak.com/member.php?u=5) was invited to the show to talk with the host Michael 'riCo' Bister about Ventrilo, Shockvoice, Mumble and last but not least TeamSpeak 2. In addition, the host had a short telephone interview with one of the TeamSpeak 3 developers - Peter Kirk.

In case you've missed the show or just want to watch it over and over again, you'll find a high quality version in GIGA's VoD (Video on Demand) section. We've also uploaded an 11 minute-long video of the presentation to our download server. The link can be found in our forums.

Related Links:
Review of the show on the GIGA.DE website (http://www.giga.de/show/esports/00143179_giga_esports_vom_2627_januar/)
According thread in the Planet TeamSpeak forums (http://forum.planetteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=492)
TeamSpeak Receives Winload.de Award 2007

As we begin the new year, Planet TeamSpeak welcomes you to 2008. We hope you had some wonderful holidays.

The new year started with a bang for TeamSpeak Systems. On December 17th, 2007, the TeamSpeak 2 client received the Winload.de Award 2007 for being last year's most downloaded Freeware application. With more than 998.988 downloads in just over a year, the TeamSpeak 2 client has left other popular software like BearShare and Apple's QuickTime Player far behind.

Congratulations to everyone on the hard-working, creative TeamSpeak development team!

Related Links:
Winload.de Award 2007 website (http://www.winload.de/specials/award_2007/)
Seasons Greetings and a Preview for 2008

Another year has almost passed. To all our community members and visitors, both old and new, we extend our best wishes for the holidays, and a warm invitation to join us again in 2008. In addition, we are happy to announce our plans for the new year.

It's needless to say that we constantly work hard to improve our existing applications such as the TS Admin-Client, the TS2PerlMod, the TeamSpeak 2 Anti-Flood Daemon and the TeamSpeak 2 Webmanager (also known as T2Web). Beside all of this, we have many ideas for new projects. Probably the most exiting project is code named Optimus - a fully featured web-based management solution for TeamSpeak servers which will hopefully set some new standards. We'll publish a limited set of features and a full roadmap soon.

Currently, we are working on a fresh new design for our website which will be up in early 2008. As you can see, exciting things are on the Planet TeamSpeak horizon.

Enjoy the holidays and stay tuned for future updates!
Avira AntiVir detects TS Admin-Client as Virus

During the last two days, several users of Avira AntiVir have informed us of a possible virus issue with version 1.1 of the TS Admin-Client. The antivirus solution reports the TS Admin-Client's main executable as a virus called SPR/Tool.TSAdmin. It seems like the application has been added to Avira's signature database on October 9th, 2007 at 17:23.

This is a false positive - meaning that there has never been any malicious code in the TS Admin-Client. We've already sent an email to Avira hoping that this issue can be resolved without any more inconvenience.

Update - 15 October 2007
Today, we've received an email from Avira. The TS Admin-Client will be removed from Avira's signature database with one of the next updates.

Related Links:
AntiVir Virus Definition File History (http://www.avira.com/de/threats/section/vdfhistory/vdf_no/7.00.00.64/7.00.00.64.html)
The german content is currently beeing prepared and will be published soon.

With the launch of the new website, the TeamSpeak team officially announced TeamSpeak 3 - their upcoming, next generation product. Apart from the information presented in their blog, the new content reveals that there will be a TeamSpeak 3 Corporate Edition (CE) which features encrypted VoIP technology.
New Domains Acquired

We're proud to introduce that Planet TeamSpeak has acquired additional domain names. Our websitecan now be reached at the following additional three domains:

www.planetteamspeak.de (http://www.planetteamspeak.de)

www.planetteamspeak.net (http://www.planetteamspeak.net)

www.planetteamspeak.org (http://www.planetteamspeak.org)

When you're using one of these URLs, you'll automatically be redirected to planetteamspeak.com which is still used as primary domain. The DNS server records for the domains have been set, but there will be a propagation period of 24-72 hours whilst the update spreads across.

On a special note, we'd like to thank ^^kev### (http://forum.planetteamspeak.com/member.php?u=196) for providing us with the planetteamspeak.de domain.
Nickname URL-Filter for TeamSpeak 2 Servers is Available

We're sure some of you have noticed the recent, high rate of URL spamming on TeamSpeak 2 servers. The scenario is always the same: An unknown user connects to a server using an URL as nickname. We know that there are several applications and scripts out there that will automatically kick or ban the user, but the URL will still be seen by others in the clients chatlog.

To avoid this issue, Steven has created a small proof of concept application called TSQueue which uses the Linux netfilter userspace packet queue to parse all login packets sent to your server by a TeamSpeak 2 client. If the nickname includes www. or http://, the application will overwrite the nickname with a pre-defined value.

The application is released under the GNU General Public License (http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl.html), so you're allowed to modify, copy and redistribute the source code.

If you have any thoughts or feedback regarding the application, please feel free to contact us.

Related Links:
Download TSQueue 0.1 for Linux (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,93/)
According thread in the Planet TeamSpeak forums (http://forum.planetteamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=356)
The new release carries version number 2.0.24.1 and includes fixes for several \0 char exploits in the TCP query interface which could cause database corruption.

A full distribution package will be released soon if no more bugs are found.

Downloads are available from our download area or the official TeamSpeak website.

Related Links:
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.24.1 BETA for Windows (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,91/)
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.24.1 BETA for Linux (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,92/)
Original thread on TeamSpeak.com (http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=39099)
A new version of the TeamSpeak 2 server is now available for download. This release deals with a security issue which could enable an attacker with a validserveradmin account to read files from your harddisk through the serversbuilt-in web administration interface.

Because 2.0.23.22 is a security release, it is important that you upgrade your TeamSpeak 2 servers as soon as possible.

A full package will be released in a few days if no more bugs are found.

The new release can be found in our download area or on the official TeamSpeak website.

Related Links:
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.23.22 BETA for Windows (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,88/)
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.23.22 BETA for Linux (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,89/)
Original thread on TeamSpeak.com (http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=38801)
The TeamSpeak development team has published a new developer release of the TeamSpeak 2 server. The new version 2.0.23.20 fixes a SQL injection bug which only affects servers running on MySQL databases. This issue has been reported yesterday in the official TeamSpeak forums.

If your TeamSpeak server is running on a MySQL database, you should update immediately. Otherwise, an update is not necessary since the native SQLite database is not vulnerable to this bug.

Downloads are available from our download area or the official TeamSpeak website.

Related Links:
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.23.20 BETA for Windows (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,82/)
Download TeamSpeak 2 Server 2.0.23.20 BETA for Linux (component/option,com_docman/task,doc_details/Itemid,69/gid,83/)
Original thread on TeamSpeak.com (http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthread.php?t=38687)
The developers have prepared new distribution packages for the Windows and Linux versions of yesterdays developer release 2.0.23.19 which is no longer tagged as BETA.

If you're already running a TeamSpeak server with version 2.0.23.19, an update is not necessary. Otherwise, you should update your installation as quickly as possible since the new release contains more than 20 security fixes and stability improvements.

Upgrading from any version of the TeamSpeak 2 server on Linux to 2.0.23.19, simply involvesoverwriting your currently installed files with the files from the new package.
